- Road rules are essential for safety whether or not you are traveling in a hazard-free rural area or a scurrying urban area.
- In the Bahamas, road rules are most stringent within populous districts like Nassau, Grand Bahama, and Freeport.
- Visitors are welcome to tour the entire country at their most desired schedule and place. on sidewalks, footpaths, and pathways; on any street in such a way as to obstruct the access of other vehicle to a private driveway, garage, or yard; at the bend of a street; within fifteen feet of a corner; alongside any vehicle stopped or parked at the edge of a curb of a street.
- Traffic moves on the left side of the road.
- The minimum driving age is 17 years.
- A person may drive a vehicle if he/she is a holder of a driver licence of the corresponding class of the motor vehicle.
- Drivers and all passengers must wear seat belts while riding in vehicles.

Requirements to driving age in different rental car agencies vary from 21 to 25 years. Additional requirement is any driver must have a full driver license at least one year. Drivers are obligatory to carry while driving a valid driver license, car registration and insurance documents. There are no toll roads in the Bahamas. All drivers must drive with due care, attention, and reasonable consideration to other persons using the road. If an accident occurs, a police officer may require providing a specimen of breath for a breath test. In Matthew Town, the main roads are: Gregory Street, Victoria Street, Kortwright Street, Meadows Street, Albert Street. Other streets are minor streets. It is not permitted to drive or park vehicles on the Public Square surrounding the Commissioner’s Office Building and on the parade grounds.
