Driving Rules in Lithuania

Important Reminders:

Traffic moves on the right side of the road.
The minimum driving age is 18 years old.
While driving, a driver and all passengers in the car must wear seat belts.
Children under 3 years must be seated in the back seat in special child seats. Children under 12 years and under 150 cm may not be seated in the front seat.
The Liability Insurance policy is obligatory; it can be purchased at the border to Lithuania.
Speed limits are: in towns and settlements – 60 km/h, on country roads – 90 km/h; on highways from 1 October to 1 May – 110 km/h; on highways from 1 May to 1 October – 130 km/h.
First aid kit, fire extinguisher, and warning triangle are obligatory.
The blood-alcohol limit is 0.04%.
Using cell phones without a hands-free system is not permitted when driving.
It is not permitted to use radar detectors.
European emergency number is 112; local police number is 02.
Dipped headlights must be switched on at all times while driving.

Driving in Lithuania in the Winter:

For driving in Lithuania , winters are tolerable. You must have winter tires in all wheels from November to April. Keep your emergency kit at all times. As long as you’re prepared, you’re good to go.
